ABOUT ME

I am Erin McGlone, and I am that crazy horse girl. I practically live at the barn and easily wear a helmet more often than not. I began riding at the age of 6 and by my second lesson I was hooked. My horse Scottie is my partner in crime. Scottie, in addition to all his four legged friends, has taught me so much about myself and others. The horses teach me patience, dedication, and how to be a hard worker. I want to be able to teach others a little something about living through horses one day.

Children and horses are two of my favorite things. I am so lucky to have found a career path for myself at a very young age. I wanted to be a teacher, but I wanted a future with horses, so I found out I could have both and be a trainer. I plan on majoring in animal science and riding for my school’s equestrian team once in college. After college, I would like to be a working student in Canada or Ireland for a year. This will allow me to further my skills, receive wonderful training, and learn new training techniques.

I will be attending Berry College this fall where I will study animal science and ride for their equestrian team. I plan to use my education to benefit others and enable them to fall in love with horses as much as I have. I mentored with my trainer throughout this school year and I loved it. I rode and clipped horses as well as learned about owning and running a barn. I learned so much about the industry, but I also that I can use myself and the horses for much more. I began to research hippotherapy around November for an Honors Mentorship assignment and the more I researched the more I realized that this was what I saw myself doing with my life. Hippotherapy is the use of horses in therapy for people with special needs or disabilities. This would allow me to benefit others even more through my animals.
